Wood Artist
Wood carving started with a quest to create something lifelike using a piece of wood and simple tools. As my methods continue to mature, my work subtlety edges towards hyperrealism, while aiming to bring life and character to objects that might otherwise be overlooked. This approach gives my carvings a subtle presence that allows them to blend in as if they are part of the general scenery, just until the viewer takes notice that what looks like an everyday object is actually a wooden carving. Other times I'm intentionally colliding realism and graphic design, allowing for each piece to have its own voice and character, standing apart from others. Wood is a timeless medium. It can be shaped and transformed. It can remain bare or covered. My goal is to see how far I can stretch myself and the medium. Each piece I do is a step in that journey.
