Hawaii’s 3rd annual Greenroom Festival musical lineup so far includs Honolulu based Na Hoku Hanohano awards nominated Surf-Rock band The Dukes of Surf, young and dynamic local Ukulele duo Honoka & Azirta and Japan performers Def Tech and Ukulele Gypsy from Saturday through Sunday, September 9th-10th at Waikiki Shell!

Patterned after the famed Greenroom Festival held each year at Yokohama’s Red Brick Warehouse, the Waikiki Shell event supports beach conservancy and ocean awareness in Hawaii. An eco-friendly environment at the show encourages sustainable practices such as recyclable and reusable products, and features artists and artisans who strive to preserve our environment for future generations.

Enjoy the music, stroll the Beach Market for goods and foods, join a yoga group, and help save Hawaii’s beaches from 4pm to 10pm. The festival is family-friendly currently with an early bird special offerprice of $30 per person in advance (good till June 30th), with kids 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult. Donation tickets are also available for $10, granting you access to Day 1 only Saturday September 9th. Donation proceeds will goto benefit Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Surfrider Foundation Oahu, & the Kokua Hawaii Foundation. THE DUKES OF SURF
A sunny, surf-rock band based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Members JP, Fish and Jimmy grew up in different beach towns across the USA and share a love for sun, sand, surf, wahines, and rock ‘n roll. They debuted in Japan in 2013 under JVC Victor Entertainment and Sony Music Publishing. Their self-titled debut album was nominated for rock album of the year at the 2013 Na Hoku Hanohano awards, which is considered the “Grammy’s” of Hawaii. Their debut single, “Waikiki” soared to the top of Japan music charts and was called a “smash hit” by Japanese music critics. “Aloha Christmas”, which was their follow-up winter single, was picked up by McDonalds in Germany and played on heavy rotation in their over 1,200 locations during the 2013 Christmas Season. The Dukes of Surf have a fresh take on a classic sound. So kick back, relax, and relive the memories of yesteryear, or heck, create some new ones with The Dukes of Surf.

HONOKA & AZITA
Composed of Honoka Katayama and Azita Ganjali, the young and dynamic ukulele duo first met at Ukulele Hale, a ukulele studio in Kaimuki, Hawaii founded by Jody Kamisato.  Both girls garnered exceptional credentials as soloist, including individual awards in ukulele competitions throughout Hawaii. Honoka & Azita were invited to Okinawa, Japan to open for the famouns Japanese band BEGIN, along with other popular Japanese artists at the annual "Uta No Hi (Songs Day)" Concert.  The duo performed for 8,000 people, and was also featured on nationwide TV. Gaining worldwide attention for their elecrifying performances, Honoka & Azita are quickly emerging as one of the preeminent ukulele players of the next generation.  Energy, fun, passion and pure hearts would best describe this dynamic ukulele duo.  Honoka & Azita would like to continue sharing their music and ukulele with the world!

DEF TECH
Winners of multiple J-WAVE TOKIO and MTV JAPAN awards, Def Tech serves up bi-lingual Jawaiian and reggae rhythms to form distinctive, feel-good music that bridges cultures between Japan and Hawaii. Shen, a former Hawaii resident born in China, and his partner Japan-born Micro, have honed their sound with serious study of local music and musicians, and share an appreciation of Hawaii’s unique ecosystem and lifestyle which influence their lyrics and permeate their performances.
